Mountain Man Brewing Company Case Analysis Free Essays

Mountain Man Brewing Company wouldn't like to go one more year with income lost from Mountain Man Lager. By adding a light brew to the product offering it could pick up dependability from a more youthful group and pull in progressively then simply the workingman. Simultaneously he wouldn't like to lose the brand fairness that has taken a long time to make. We will compose a custom exposition test on Mountain Man Brewing Company Case Analysis or then again any comparable theme just for you Request Now He is additionally confronted with strong imposing business models in the brew world that make it difficult to keep up. Chris is confronted with a hard choice, will taking a risk and changing the picture truly be the correct move for Mountain Man. By presenting another product offering called Mountain Man Light the organization would have the option to contact a more extensive crowd. They would no longer concentrate on the workingman, they would speak to a more youthful age of brew consumers. They would likewise have the option to increase a lady base, ladies being very heath careful would be bound to buy the lager in the event that it went to a â€Å"light† form with less calories. By propelling a Mountain Man Light it would likewise make light of most people groups impression of the Mountain Man Original being too solid and just a masculine keeps an eye on brew. Mountain Man Brewing Company is a lager for the workingman. It has been around since 1925 and has increased solid reliability from the person born after WW2 age. Mountain Man has solid brand mindfulness down south and in the event that you asked anybody over the 21 they are increasingly, at that point likely ready to perceive the name regardless of whether they don't drink it themselves. The brand has had the option to remain in the game with solid contenders, for example, Anheuser Bush, Miller, and Adolf Coors. The uniqueness of the taste alongside the higher at that point normal liquor content is the thing that makes its devoted clients returning for additional. One choice to take a gander at for the Mountain Man Brewing Company is to look and perceive how hard it is circulate it into restrictions and nearby bars with the alternative to have it accessible on draft. By placing additional cash into re-advancing a similar formula it would be significantly less exorbitant. By offering specials at neighborhood bars, for example, dollar Mountain Man’s on Tuesday evenings would acquaint the lager with a more youthful age. Since the more youthful age is the one to target since they don't have a brew inclination yet this is a way that could get them snared and simultaneously do right by them to share a six pack that both the youthful multi year old and his 55-year-old father would both appreciate by keeping the convention of Mountain Man lager alive. Different choices could be to go with the Mountain Man Light and don’t avoid any and all risks what so ever. In the event that you’re going to be effective, your items must be unique. Mountain Man should utilize boisterous hues to pull in individuals consideration, alongside switching up the state of your normal lager bottle. Different approaches to not avoid any and all risks while advancing Mountain Man Light could be to utilize non-customary racking framework. Rather than removing significant racking space from Mountain Man place 6 or 12 packs in isles in a pyramid shape, that way individuals don't relate the two so much. My suggestion to the Mountain Man Brewing Company is keep the item exactly how it is and not present a Mountain Man Light. On the off chance that a brand can last a great many ages there is an explanation behind this. Solid brand mindfulness is difficult to find with such a significant number of new brew items showing up on the racks each occasions you stroll into any comfort store. The conspicuous taste and working man persona is the thing that kept them in the game quite a long time after year. In the event that the organization needs to help income and guarantee they toward the end later on I would investigate provoking at neighborhood bars and allowing the more youthful group to attempt the lager and even change their old recognition about it. West Virginia’s brew should remain as simply that and keep the convention alive. Instructions to refer to Mountain Man Brewing Company Case Analysis, Papers

places at mit

places at mit MITs campus can be pretty daunting for someone first visiting. All the buildings are numbered, and at first glance, the ordering of the numbers seems unintuitive. Buildings 3 and 4 should be next to each other, right? Nope, theyre not. If you took a student-guided tour here, a common building route sequence would be 7, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 14. If youre not an MIT student, you might be very confused at this point. But if youve spent enough time here, youd know exactly what that route looks like. In addition, youd know that the tour probably crossed Killian Court between 3 and 4. This is one of the small things I love about MIT: its building conventions, along with the other numbered conventions like class/course numbers, are confusing at first, but makes talking with other MIT students and the MIT experience unique. Ive finally decided to get out my DSLR that has been sitting largely in its tote bag on my shelf because I wanted to share my favorite places at MIT with you. Whether it be fairly common study spaces and lush greens, or less-worn nooks and places you might not usually travel on a daily basis, I want to cover as much as I can. I want to do this for two reasons: One, I want to show you that, despite our building numbers seemingly not making sense or our campus aesthetics being pretty quirky, MIT can be beautiful. :) Two I told someone the other day that Im still discovering new things about MIT, even coming up on one year being here, and I appreicate and like that. MIT has become just a place to me over the past semester/several months: even though it is a great place to be, its lost its magic and wonder that Id once held when I first came here. I read my very first blog post  on MITAdmissions earlier today, and smiled when I read this paragraph: Building numbers weave in and out like needle and thread (7, 3, 10, 4, 8, 16, 26), and staircases everywhere make me feel like a first year at Hogwarts. Everything seems and sounds so shiny and new, to the point where I couldnt possibly see the magic of this place going away for me. This is the place Ive dreamed of for most of my life, and deep inside I find a rare form of happiness that Ive been waiting to feel for a very long time. MIT is no longer shiny nor magical nor new, but sometimes I take a walk either with my friends or on my own and stumble across new places. I like this feeling of still being able to find new places and be pleasantly surprised. So without further ado Id like to show you around! :) where im living this summer: sigep, 518 beacon st. i live on the second floor beacon street (lydia k.s beacon hill  blog post is one of my favorites) the harvard bridge: it has an unusual unit of measurement called the smoot kresge auditoriums roof is its own support some pictures of kresge oval a road leading to maseeh hall student center ive spent a lot of my time this summer in the 5th floor reading room of the student center an LSC board filled with flyers of past showings simmons hall i dont know what to call this place between the oval and baker house, but its wonderful a DUSP lounge on the second floor (building 9) building 36, 8th floor café stata from the outside stata from the inside statas fourth floor commons, outside statas fourth floor commons, inside building 46, the cognitive science building, is wonderful building 46 has a gorgeous reading pavillion with a view of stata and interior palm trees :) bonus picture of the blogger group chat: Post Tagged #LSC #photography #summer

16 Classic Russian Jokes

Russian humor can be difficult to understand even if you speak fluent Russian. This is often because many Russian jokes play on cultural stereotypes, political events, popular culture, and Soviet-time movies. Russian jokes are called Ð °Ã ½Ã µÃ ºÃ ´Ã ¾Ã'‚ and have a unique history. The first Ð °Ã ½Ã µÃ ºÃ ´Ã ¾Ã'‚Ã'‹ came to Russia through the European tradition of telling interesting, often funny stories. They were popular in the aristocratic circles and eventually developed into the classic joke similar to those in the West. However, these jokes took on a very political slant during the 70 years of the Soviet era. This unique perspective allowed for the development of an unusual, specific Russian humor characterized by its themes of political or cultural relevance. Soviet Jokes About Political Leaders Imgorthand / Getty Images Soviet political leaders provided a lot of material for new jokes, especially Stalin, Brezhnev, and Khrushchev, due to their odd or funny behavior as well as the paradoxical and claustrophobic nature of the Soviet life. 1.Thats enough of messing around, said Brezhnev, gluing his eyebrows under his nose. 2. Brezhnev is speaking at a party meeting. Who said that I can only speak when I have the speech in front of me? Ha, dash, ha, dash, ha, dash. 3. - Do you have a hobby, Leonid Ilyich?- Of course! I collect jokes about myself.- Have you got many?- Two and a half labor camps already! Jokes About Everyday Soviet Life Life was difficult in the Soviet Union, with stores often displaying empty shelves and politics generating a high level of stress and suspicion. People were painfully aware of the lack of things that were considered completely ordinary abroad. All production was done within the country and everything was grey and clunky compared to what was being produced in the West. People responded by coming up with jokes that played on the contrast between life in the Soviet Union and life elsewhere. 4. Two cassette players meet up. One is Japanese, the other is Soviet-made. The Soviet one says:- Is it true that your owner has bought you a new cassette?- Yeah.- Can I have a chew? 5. - What would you do if they opened the borders?- I would climb a tree.- Why?- So I dont get killed in the stampede. Jokes About Contemporary Life in Russia 6. They caught Bin Laden. Washed him, gave him a haircut, turned out it was Berezovsky. 7. A factory worker in a Western country shows his house to his Russian colleague.- Heres my room, this one is my wifes, this is my eldest daughters, thats our dining room, then the guest bedroom... etc.The Russian guest nods and says, after a pause:- Well, its basically similar to mine. Only we dont have the internal walls. New Russians Jokes Arndt_Vladimir / Getty Images New Russians appeared in the 1990s, after the fall of the Soviet Union, as the Russian nouveaux riches. They quickly became the subject of many jokes due to their lack of culture, education, and manners, as well as their garish tastes. New Russians were usually depicted as low in intelligence and reliant on money to solve everything. 8. Two New Russians are driving in a Jeep and see a sign Traffic police - 100m. One of them takes out his wallet and begins to count the money. Then he sighs and says You know what, Vovan, I dont think we have enough for a hundred cops. 9. A New Russian says to an architect:- I want you to build three swimming pools: one with cold water, one with warm water, and one without any water.- Why would the third one not have any water?- Cuz some of my friends cant swim. Jokes About Lenin Andrei Vasilev / Getty Images Just like other political leaders, Lenin has been the butt of many Russian jokes. His character traits, his manner of speech, and his post-death stay at the Moscow mausoleum are all popular topics. 10. A tired father of six comes home after a night shift. The kids surround him and demand to play. He says:- Okay, lets play a game called Mausoleum where Ill be Lenin and youll be the guards. 11. A journalist interviews Lenin.- Vladimir Ilyich, how did you come up with the slogan Study, study, and study?- I didnt come up with anything, I was just trying out a new pen! Jokes About Lieutenant Rzhevsky Lieutenant Rzhevsky is a fictional character in a play by Aleksandr Gladkov and the movie based on the play, The Hussar Ballad. Possessing both negative and positive character traits, Rzhevsky became a popular subject of Soviet jokes after the release of the movie. Although the original character is not that much of a womanizer, it is this trait in particular that dominates the jokes about him. Interestingly, the jokes usually also feature Natasha Rostova, one of the main characters of Tolstoys War and Peace. The reason for this is that while Rzhevsky represents a vulgar, highly sexualized military man, Natasha Rostova depicts the more traditional ideals of a woman as seen in Russian culture as a demure and charming character. The contrast between them creates plenty of opportunities for jokes. 12. Natasha Rostova is at a ball.- It is terribly hot in here. Lieutenant Rzhevsky, perhaps we could open something?- With my greatest pleasure! Would you prefer champagne or cognac? 13. - Chaps, Im so tired of the same old card games! Why dont we go to the theatre instead? They are putting on Three Sisters.Lieutenant Rzhevsky:- This is going to work out brilliantly! There are three of us, too! Jokes About Little Vovochka STUDIOGRANDOUEST / Getty Images Equivalent to Little Johny, Little Vovochka originated in the early 20th century as a nameless little boy who would shock others with his vulgar behavior. Eventually, the little boy became Little Vovochka as an ironic homage to such leaders of Russia as Vladimir the Great and Vladimir Lenin. More recently, Vladimir Putin also joined the ranks of the Vovochkas. 14. A teacher asks:- Children, who has a pet at home?Everyone raises their hands and shouts out Cat! Dog! Hedgehog!Little Vovochka raises his hand and says Lice, ticks, cockroaches! 15. Little Vovochka decided to become president when he grows up. And he did. Jokes About Chapaev Chapaev was a celebrated Russian army commander during the Russian Civil War. After a Soviet movie was made about him in 1934, Chapaev became a popular subject of Russian jokes. Where would I get such a giant gherkin?

Fall Of Rome CCOT Essay Free Essays

Rome fell due to a plethora Of reasons such as economic instability and succession issues. However, a major factor that contributed to the fall of Rome was the invasion of the Germanic tribes. The Germanic tribes were outside invaders who attacked the borders of the Roman Empire and created political disruption which inevitably lead to the fall of Rome. We will write a custom essay sample on Fall Of Rome CCOT Essay or any similar topic only for you Order Now In 200 CE, Rome was at its height. But after the fall of Rome, Europe turned to feudalism. After the fall of Rome in 476 CE, Europe socially stayed the same. In 200 CE, Rome was socially stratified, meaning that it was hierarchical with people in different classes. At the top were the king and his patricians. Then, there were the nobles. Subsequently, there was the merchant class. And finally, at the bottom of the social hierarchy, there were the common people who included freed men and women, and slaves. Rome was also patriarchal, meaning that the father or man in a family or clan was supreme. In other words, men were superior to women. Thus, women were oppressed in Rome during this period. After the fall of Rome in 476 CE, when Europe turned to feudalism, Rupee’s social structure virtually stayed intact. However, women’s lives did slightly get better probably because their roles increased as economic conditions worsened. They were most likely needed more often to keep up the barter economy and care for the children and household. Thus, they would have higher roles. Rome flourished politically in 200 CE. The Roman Empire was large and in it was a very strong powerful bureaucracy. Under this empire and bureaucracy, power was centralized and the empire was stable. The Roman law code assured a safe and civilized environment. Also, the empire contained a vast, strong military to protect the region from outside invaders. After the fall of Rome, this region experienced major changes. There was no longer a Roman Empire. Instead, this area turned into feudal Europe as the political system. There was no longer a king, bureaucracy, or someone at the top Of the hierarchy, and so, power was decentralized. The church rose to fill in this gap of leadership and stabilize this Mediterranean area. Politically, very little dated the same because there was no longer a Roman Empire but rather a feudal Europe. Europe probably turned to feudalism because it had no other option now that the political system collapsed. This area desperately needed to regain stability or otherwise turn to anarchy. As a result, Europe would have established a feudal system to prevent that from happening. Economically, agriculture and trade were the basis of Roman economy in 200 CE. They traded with surrounding regions which increased revenue for the Empire. They were also involved in long distance trade with China through he Silk Road. This allowed them to enjoy more luxuries such as silk that they could not create themselves. Overall, they had fair flung trade. After the fall of Rome, this area saw many economic continuities and changes as it struggled to cope with worsened conditions. A major continuity was that farming and agriculture remained crucial. Trade shrank and became a barter economy which was one of the changes that took place. Some other changes include a more localized economy since cities shrank. Trade also shrank because there was no more long distance trade with the Chinese. Manorial rose and guilds Were developed. Economically, this Mediterranean region experienced changes and continuities alike as a result of the fall of Rome. Agriculture probably remained the basis of economy because it is unlikely that people would abandon their traditional farming techniques which began sedentary life in Europe first of all. Trade would have shrunk because chaos within the country made it very unlikely that they would be connected to foreign countries through trade. They had to get themselves in order before they could do business with other places. Finally, cities shrunk as a direct result of the fall of Rome and could only be reinstated after stability in Europe was restored. Moreover, the political transformation of the fall of Rome in 476 CE contributed to social, political, and economic continuities and changes in the cultures of the Mediterranean region during the period be;en 200 CE and 1000 CE. Socially, there were still distinct social classes and a patriarchal society but women enjoyed more freedom after the fall of Rome than they did before because their roles would have increased in order to keep up with he barter community. Premarital Sex free essay sample

It is a sin against God, against His will, and His way (Sin Np). Those who have committed this sin need to ask for forgiveness to God in confession, so they can reconcile with Him. God said in the Bible, â€Å"If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing (1 John 1:9 1360). â€Å"The Bible explains, â€Å"The body, however, is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body† (1 Corinthians 6:13 1236). It’s saying that they should have some respect to their bodies, because God made us. From the Catholic Bible, premarital sex refers to fornication. The unity love of a husband and wife is ‘flesh’. When there in love they have the right to be with one another. A bunch of people may have thought they were truly in love with someone, had lost their virginity to them, and then they end up going separate ways. We will write a custom essay sample on Premarital Sex or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page People don’t know the consequence what will happen for those who have had premarital sex. Many people get tempted into having sex before marriage only because everyone else is doing it, they think it’s okay if they have fornication. â€Å"Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral† (Marriage Np). The history of premarital sex is mostly involved with everyone now because those who are Catholics are usually the ones who have sex before marriage. Those who are not Catholic’s have fewer people who have had premarital sex. Alfred Kinsey, a zoologist who liked to know about human sexual behavior. He had interviewed a lot of people, and had a result that in 1905 to 1920 there was a huge change in premarital sexual behavior. In 1650 A. D. , premarital sex was like a crime and they made it illegal. Later in 1881 A. D. , Tony Pace, and Mary J. Cox, they were going to go to jail for 2 years because of having premarital sex. In 1981 A. D. , Pope John Paul II said that premarital sex does not only bring guilt but also to be envy and unfriendliness (John Paul II Np). During 2005 A. D. , if you and your couple were 18 years of age, then most countries would let you have sex before marriage. The history changed a lot from back then, because they had punishments for them if they committed it. For us in today, we have to make our right decision in following God’s way, which is to wait until your married for sexual love. The statistics of premarital sex is showing that in a data of survey age by 20, 75% of people had premarital sex. The age of 44, 95% of people having premarital sex; women who were turning 15 from 1954 to 1993, around 91% had premarital sex at age of 30. The chart below is showing the numbers of percentage of people who are all catholic and have committed premarital sex; and those who are weekly attending Catholics. It shows that 39%, in 1972 the adult Catholics said fornication was always wrongdoing. The percentage went up at 52, for the weekly attending Catholics who thought it was wrong. Those who don’t attend mass and are Catholic have a higher number at 86%. There is a lot of Catholics who attend church and don’t agree on not having sex before marriage. They don’t want to follow what God said to us, â€Å"to wait until we found our spouse to have sexual relations together†. Premarital sex on this chart is showing that this has been happening for a while now. (Pope, Msgr. Charles Np) (Pope, Msgr. Charles Np) That top graph is showing the percent of high school students who have had premarital sex, from between 1991 to 2007. It was a Youth Risk Behavior Survey taken more than 16,000 students in over 150 high schools, throughout the whole nation (Pope, Msgr. Charles Np). As you can see, in 1991 the percentage was 54. 1, the highest overall all those other years. From 1993 to1997 the percentage decreased, of 53% to 48. 4% from both females and males. Then it started increasing a little bit in 1999, about 49. 9%. It had decreased again in 2001, with a 45. 6%; from there it increased throughout the other years, a 47. 8% in 2007. That was the last percentage taken from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey in 2007 from high school students, both males and females having premarital sex. This other graph below is showing another percentage that premarital sex was starting around the 1900. In 1900, it was 6% women in the U. S. having premarital sex, at the age of 19. Compared to before as of today, the percentage has increased to a 75%. Only 15% of women had the attitude of having premarital sex in 1968. The statistics are showing that it will probably increase in the future. (Premarital sex graph Np) In America premarital sex, on average for young people happens about the age of 17. In 2006-2010, the most common reason that sexually inexperienced teens gave for not having had sex was that it was â€Å"against religion or morals† (38% among females and 31% among males) (Statistics in America Np). Some other reasons were that females said they want to wait for someone special, or they don’t want to get pregnant. A female who had premarital sex the percentage is about 70% and the males is 56% with a steady partner not just a friend. Teens from the U. S. and Europe have the same issue of premarital sex. There are a lot of people who have sex before marriage, because they feel like they’re going to lose their partner. People who aren’t ready for sexual relationship, they need time and if the other person doesn’t accept you then you leave them. A survey shows for the Chinese was said that there is 70% of Chinese people who had premarital sex. The report showed that in comparison to 1994, the ratio of Chinese citizens who have had premarital sexual activity in 2012 has increased 30%, reaching 71. 4% (Chinese Statistics Np). The society can’t really do anything about having premarital sex because it’s your own decision on what you want to do. As societies they must set legal and behavioral boundaries just like God did. You may have to deal with unwanted pregnancies, and the consequences of sexual immorality. Premarital sex effects somewhat on our society from having sexual images sent out, living together without being married, and prostitution. It’s a sin it also effects on the people who care about you. In Australia, you have to be 16 to legally have a sexual relationship. The possible outcomes of premarital sex can be that young teens may have any STD’s if you’re not careful. That would be really difficult to handle at an early age. Getting pregnant is another possible outcome because they would have to take care of their baby or they may want to commit a horrible sin by doing abortion. That is really mature situation someone would have to take if getting pregnant at any early age. Also, they would have probably family problems in the future, dealing with the money and etc. They probably have the conscience filled with guilt of having sex before marriage. People should really think about what they are doing to themselves, if they ask for forgiveness to God, he will forgive you. They must not do it again until marriage. God wants us all to follow Him, have sex until marriage with our loved one whom we will share everything with them for all eternity until separated through death.

Pete Rose Essays

Pete Rose Essays Pete Rose Essay Pete Rose Essay Kuruc 2 Pete Rose got his start as a major league baseball player during a Spring Training game in 1963 against the Chicago White Sox when a second baseman named Don Blasingame pulled his groin muscle, and Rose was put into the game as his replacement. Upon appearing in another spring training game against the New York Yankees, Pete was issued a walk and proceeded to sprint to first base instead of the usual slow trot down the baseline after a walk. Yankee player Whitey Ford gave him the nickname â€Å"Charlie Hustle†, almost mocking Rose upon seeing the play unfold. It is possible that the mocking tone of the name is the reason that Rose adopted the nickname and used it as a badge of honor throughout his playing career. Pete Rose finally made his Major League debut on opening day on April 8, 1963. Rose was held hitless for the first couple of games until April 13. Against the Pittsburgh Pirates and pitcher Bob Friend, Rose collected his first Major Le ague hit, a triple. Rose went on to log 4,256 hits in his illustrious playing career, retiring with the all-time hits record in the MLB, a mark that stands to this day. Personally I picked this topic because my father would always talk about Pete Rose when we talked about baseball since Rose had such great intensity and energy as well as his keen ability to get a hit whenever the team really needed it. He was also a key piece of the Philadelphia Phillies teams during his tenure with the team from 1979 until 1984. During Rose’s time with the Phillies he helped lead the team to three division titles and two World Series appearances including the 1980 season in which the Phillies captured the World Series in six games over the Kansas City Royals. My father not only grew up in Philadelphia but his father and my grandfather actually worked for the Phillies as a ticket taker. This link to the Phillies certainly enhanced my father’s love and passion for the 1980 team and Pete Rose especially Kuruc 3since he watched

Threw and Through

Threw and Through Threw and Through Threw and Through By Maeve Maddox When I read the expression â€Å"through me for a loop† in a recent comment, I can tell you, it threw me for a loop! I decided to cruise the web and see if this version of the expression had become common. It has. Admittedly most of the usage I found occurs in comments to articles, in forums, and on the sites of non-professional writers, but it’s out there: when myspace page came up, it through me for a loop. This question through me for a loop with its emphasis on reflective transfer. something happened yesterday that really through me for a loop. I must admit the appearance of wood through me for a loop. The menu through me for a loop. Since such things are catching, I’ll review the difference between threw and through. The word threw is the simple past of the verb to throw, to propel through the air: throw threw (have) thrown The word through is a preposition used to indicate penetration or passage: The bullet traveled through the vest. The hikers crawled through the low tunnel. To throw someone for a loop is to confuse or shock a person. To knock someone for a loop has the same meaning: The news of her advisor’s death knocked her for a loop. The words threw and through are pronounced alike, but, so far anyway, they have different spellings in standard English. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Potent and specific genetic interference by double-stranded RNA in Essay

Potent and specific genetic interference by double-stranded RNA in Caenorhabditis elegans - Essay Example Notably, this reflects limited interference activity. To achieve a commendable effect, there should be a high dose of the injected RNA. In an endogenous activity, an antisense-sense mixture has the capacity to produce interference that is very effective. In the development of a dsRNA (double-stranded RNA), the evident feature is the potency of the antisense-sense mixture in the interfering activity. Placing the double-stranded structure in cis has no effect on the potent activity of the interference. That is, double-strand sequences that are positioned on level 3 or 5 of a single-strand segment are not able to trigger interference. Using unc-54, fem-1 and hlh-1 to assess the target uniqueness of the effects of dsRNA, the results include (1) progeny broods with a null-mutant phenotype are produced and (2) the single RNA threads with no important interference. At cellular levels, the effects of interference of dsRNA can also be examined. Fractions of the Derived fluorescent protein (GFP) decrease when they are injected with dsRNA and the same is explained by in the figure above and

The Parliament Acts of 1911 and 1949 Reforms to the House of Lords Essay

The Parliament Acts of 1911 and 1949 Reforms to the House of Lords - Essay Example The act was as result of a reaction to the rivalry between the incumbent government and the House of Lords with regards to the 1909 People’s Budget. The chancellor of the exchequer of the time named David Lloyd George, had proposed the incorporation of a land tax (Dorey and Kelso 119-124). The new tax would have adverse effects on owners of large pieces of lands, majority of who were persons in the conservative opposition. In this regards, the conservatives believed in another alternative source which was to be tariffs on imports as this has much prospects to the British local industries as well. They had leverage in their large majority numbers which they used to vote down the budget. This was even perpetuated further by the veto power they possessed on Public Bills. This challenged the Liberals so much that they prioritized reducing the power of the Lords come the next general elections. After the elections, the Liberals still formed the minority government hence the Lords s ubsequently accepted the People Budget only after the land tax proposal had been dropped (Dorey and Kelso 126). The dispute over the budget however prompted the government to introduce new resolutions which were geared towards limiting the power of the Lords. ... The provisions of the Act abolished any veto powers of the House of Lords to any public bill introduced in the House of Commons. Exception was however granted to Bills which contain any provision to extend the maximum duration of parliament beyond the normal five years or any Bill confirming provisional order (Gordon 14-19). Again, the Bill did not alter any provision to the Bills introduced in the House of Common, as well as Private Bills and delegated legislations (Gordon 19). The Labour government amended the 1911 Act to further reduce the power of the House of Lords. This was prompted by the fears that the radical programme of nationalism which they advocated for, would be delayed by the House of the Lords barring its completion within the life of the parliament (Thompson 191). In 1947, a Bill aimed at reducing the time by which the Lords were bound to delay Bills form three sessions over two years to two sessions over a year, was introduced. After an attempt by the Lords to bloc k the bill, it was reintroduced in 1948 and 1911 as well (Thompson 193). The Bill was finally passed in 1949 with the application the provisions of the 1911 Act. The passing of the 1949 Act into law prompted various controversies. A number of legal personalities raised some doubts as to whether the use of the 1911 Act to pass the1949 Act, which in turn amended the 1911 Act itself was valid (Zander 94). They claimed that, the continued ability of the Lords to veto a bill to prolong the parliament life would not be entrenched if the 1911 Act could be used to amend itself first as this could end up removing this restriction (Hood 42). Also, they argued that the 1949 Act could be considered as a secondary legislation

Design of a Low Voltage CMOS Transconductance Amplifier

Design of a Low Voltage CMOS Transconductance Amplifier This project aims to illustrate the design and simulation of a Low Voltage Complementary Metal Oxide Semi Conductor (CMOS) Transconductance Amplifier (OTA) with an improved power consumption, Direct Current (DC) gain and bandwidth. Two techniques were introduced for linearization: Pseudo Differential Pairs and Source degeneration under nano-scale technology. The nonlinearity, which is caused by the short length effect due to the small size of transistor can be reduced using linearization techniques, Two techniques were introduced for linearization: Pseudo Differential Pairs and Source degeneration, were both go under nano-scale CMOS technology. The proposed OTA requires a proper control system, where the common-mode control system has been designed for system stability . The results of this implementation are: power consumption of (x), DC gain of (x) , a size of (x)  µ, number of transistors (x) . All the work was simulated using the Advances Design System ( ADS ) , under 130nm CMOS Technology. 1.1 Motivation The huge pace in technology and the growing demand of electronic devices makes the Integrated Circuit ( IC ) designers think twice about low power and low voltage with the trade of the Threshold Voltage ( VT ) which doesnt scale down when compared to the power supply. Throughout the years, designing analog integrated circuits has been challenging, where the power supply is being reduced due to the demand of technology which requires to scale down the total power. The Operational Transconductance Amplià ¯Ã‚ ¬Ã‚ er (OTA) is recognized to be one of the most important basic building blocks in analog ,mixed mode circuits, filters, including multipliers, voltage control oscillators, and Very Large Scale Integrations ( VLSI ) applications, where the VLSI technology is the process of creating ICs by combining several transistors into a single chip. In such applications the OTA is the key circuit to such design, OTA at the input of the block determines the efficiency of the overall system, hence improving the performance of the OTA block is critical for enhancing the overall module performance. Operational Transconductance Amplifier An OTA main purpose is to convert its input voltage to the desired output current; i.e. in other words an OTA is a voltage controlled current source, where Gm is the Transconductance with a unit (Ampere/Volt). In real life circuits, harmonics are introduced, and nonlinearity should be taken into consideration which caused by the short channel effect of the transistors, the expression of the output current with Taylor series expansion can be as follow : where ai is determined by the implementation of the circuit. In order to achieve a proper OTA with the specifications mentioned, linear transformation factor should be implemented in the design to reduce harmonics, linearization methods have been developed through the years to solve the problem. 1.2 Objectives The main goal is to design a low voltage Transconductance CMOS amplifier which converts its input voltage to the desired output current with high linearity, which can be achieved by linearization techniques, Pseudo Differential Pair and Source degeneration techniques. 1.3 Realistic Constraints The listed below are the main constraints that should be taken into consideration for the design : 1.3.1. Economic Constraints: The student shall use the available simulation tools such as : Advanced Design System for simulation design, and Synopsys for layout . As for the design, the main goal is to reduce harmonic distortion, achieve high linearity, and to be able to transform the input voltage to the required output current with minimum size. Since the size of the transistors determine the size of IC , and the size contributes in the cost of the IC. The designed IC is being manufactured in fabrication laboratories. During the fabrication process, thousands of ICs are being etched onto a single blank wafer. After the testing process ,only percentages of the ICs are considered useable, and being distributed among electronic stores. 1.3.2. Manufacturability and Sustainability Constraints: The designed circuit shall be worked across process and temperature corners for improved yield. 1.3.3. Ethical and Safety Constraints: Documentation should not have more than 30% similarity on Turnitin. 1.3.4. Standardization All technologies used in this project are 130 nm CMOS technology. 1.4 Design Requirements The design shall meet the following requirements: The design uses CMOS based technology. The total power consumption will be less than 15mW. The supply voltage will be less than 1 volt. Bandwidth should be larger than 50MHz DC gain should be larger than 20dB 1.5 Design Achieved The goal of this project was achieved by designing a low voltage CMOS transconductance amplifier using linearization techniques with high linearity, low power consumption of (x), DC gain of (x) , a cost of (x). 1.6 Task Distribution Work was done as a team; but some work was distributed to ensure every member has their own task. This is shown in the table below: Stage Details Marwa Marah Rateb All Research Reading papers Setting goals Design of Pseudo Differential Pair Design Build Design of Source Degeneration Design Build Design the Common Mode Design Build Connecting The circuitry ( suggested OTA ) Design Build Layout Design Build Documentation Ch.1 Ch.2 Ch.3 Ch.4 Ch.5 Table 1.1: division of labor 1.7 Organization The rest of the documentation illustrates the design characteristics where it goes as follows; Second chapter discusses the background and literature review of different approaches related to the same design. Third chapter discloses in detail the overall design, including the explanation of each linearization techniques, as well as justifying the region of each transistor. Forth chapter demonstrates the results of the design. To end with, chapter Five conclude the design, along with the future work which can be implemented to improve the design. 2.1 Transconductance Amplifier Topologies This project aims to design an Amplifier which able to convert its input voltage to the desired output current, with Pseudo Differential Pair and Source Degeneration as linearization techniques Varies architectures had been developed through the past years to build the basic OTA block Table 2.1 :comparison between three different papers Design Design Requirements Referring to chapter 1, the design shall meet the following requirements: The design uses CMOS based technology. The total power consumption will be less than 15mW. The supply voltage will be less than 1 volt. Bandwidth should be larger than 50MHz DC gain should be larger than 20dB Analysis of Requirements and Constraints In order to attain the design specifications mentioned in section 3.1, the requirements and constraints are clarified below Analysis of Design Requirements CMOS based technology CMOS circuits components are becoming the most desired to be implemented in nowadays technology, due to its low power consumption. Furthermore, its high speed when compared to other used technology. Power Consumption Supply Voltage Bandwidth DC gain Analysis of Design Constraints Economic Constraints Manufacturability and Sustainability Constraints The design should meet the proper operating temperature and environmental corners. The circuit topologies have been implemented using an advanced simulation that can foresee the behavior of the circuit under such circumstances. For instance, a high power circuitry will increase its temperature, thus the degradation of the performance in time, but if the circuit surpass in supreme corner, it is expected to have a longer life time. Ethical and Safety Constraints Documentation shouldnt exceed 30% similarity, citation should be considered along with stating proper referencing Design Approaches According to the cited papers in chapter 2 there are four different architectures for the converter design. All of these architectures cant be used to achieve the requirements of this project. The developed design discussed in the next section has the opportunity to achieve the requirements

The Bernard Lawrence “Bernie” Madoff Scandal

unethical in the conduct of business. A Ponzi scheme also known as a pyramid scheme is an illegal savings scheme where unwary savers are lured into putting their money into the fraudulent organization’s account with the promise of unusually high returns. On the surface this may look legitimate. But the problem is that unlike financial institutions who lend out or invest customer’s funds Ponzi schemes use funds received from newer entrants to pay out the earlier entrants exorbitant interest rates. They arouse others greed by enticing them with the prospect of high returns. They pretend and falsify their financial records to create a false sense of stability. No sane government can register such schemes. They therefore operate illegally. Mr. Madoff stands accused of nepotism. This is a business practice why by the owner employs relatives and close associates. Suffice it to say that Madoff had more than 25 employees. However those in key positions were family members most o f whom owned shares of the company. These included his wife Ruth Madoff, two sons Mark and Andrew Madoff, his brother Peter Madoff, Peter’s daughter Shana, and Madoff’s nephew Charles Weiner. It is unethical to use a well positioned family team to cover up illegal dealings. It is unethical to sent more than $250 million from his New York-based firm, Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities obtained ripping off unsuspecting savers in a Ponzi scheme to Madoff Securities International Ltd in the UK, and then back to accounts in the U. S. Question 2: Name three types of parties who were impacted by the actions of Mr. Madoff, and describe how they were impacted. Madoff’s friends included business associates who knowingly or unknowingly served to lure customers into his business. While the going was good, they were well rewarded. They occupied positions in charitable organizations, and received hefty compensations for their services and cooperation. However when the sche me was busted they lost their positions, face, as well as their incomes. Some politically correct friends had to refund monies that had been given to them through Madoff sponsored organizations. The worst party hit was his customers. Many of them were ruined financially for life. The total loss to investors is reckoned to be somewhere between 12 to 20 million dollars. On the flip side, there are those who gained.According to minutes from the trustee about $36 billion was invested into the scam, returning $18 billion to investors, with $18 billion missing. This being a pyramid scheme about half of Madoff's investors were â€Å"net winners,† earning more than their investment. The extend of embarrassment Madoff’s family experienced can only be imagined. Apart from loosing face, they lost a lot of assets. Their bank accounts were frozen and property confisticated. They are also facing legal charges for negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty by virtue of being accomplice s with Madoff.Question 3: Describe three business safeguards (risk management) that may have prevented the harm caused by Mr. Madoff. Government regulations: The hedge funds industry is considered as low risk. While the law enforcers are very strict with the banking and insurance sectors, they do not pay much attention to hedge funds. This made it easy for a smooth operator like Madoff to receive money from investors and manage the same which is illegal. He achieved this through engaging various institutions who were themselves under government regulations. Stricter regulatory and standardizing approaches of the hedge fund industry need to be put in place.a ‘best practice’ charter should be drawn and implemented. Proper audit of the Madoff’s transactions would have revealed anomalies. Independent external auditors would have done the job sufficiently. Question 4: Describe three ways private investors might have better protected themselves from risk. Due diligence in this case is the process of monitoring and reviewing the operation and management of hedge funds and those managing them. The collapse of Madoff was an expensive lesson in the importance of investors and their advisors carrying out thorough due diligence and not relying on word of mouth endorsementDiversification of risk: the nature of a pyramid scheme is to so attractive that potential investors have no other option but put their money in there. With high returns and no fees charges investors were sold. It did not occur to them to avoid putting all their eggs in one basket. There are two types of investor’s risk: systematic risk and market risk. Systematic risk is associated with a single security and is reduced by diversifying or investing is other types of securities. Market risk is occasioned by economic forces and can not be wished away. (Petty 2007)Refraining from greed: The saying that ‘when the deal is too good, think twice came true for the victims of the M adoff scam. The profile of its victims is not simple individuals disconnected from the financial markets and its remote mechanisms but investors who presumably have an expert knowledge of the trade of financial investment: rich private individuals and large financial institutions. The deal was just too good that they closed their eyes to anything else. It is a lesson to all that when investing one has to be level headed and not let themselves be overtaken by greed.Question 5: Describe three legal actions that possibly may be brought against Mr. Madoff under criminal or civil law. Securities fraud: the SEC regulates against trading based on information that is not available to the public, Accounting fraud and misrepresentation (presenting misleading or untrue information about a company, or its securities, to an investor or the public). This crime earned him a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison; fine of the greatest of $5 million or twice the gross gain or loss from the offense; r estitution.International money laundering: In his book ‘Money Laundering’, Leonard Jason-Loyd describes it as a form of criminal activity where by money is placed in banks then passed through a number of transactions to act as a smoke screen in order to hide the origin of the cash and later returned to the launderer via the legitimate financial system. (p. 2). Madoff’s crime of transferring funds between his New York-based brokerage operation and the London trading desk earned him a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, fine and restitution.False Statements: Making a false filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission including processed stock trades, use of client money as collateral to obtain loans. This earned him a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, fine and restitution. References Caruso, D. B. , February (26, 2010) (2 June 2010). Racism and Its Deep Roots in US History - 1688 Words

Racism and Its Deep Roots in US History Throughout US history, white Americans often viewed the other races (or coloreds) as inferior. Even though slavery had been abolished, laws and practices inhibited the fundamental rights African Americans were entitled to. Thus the mentality of racism and prejudice thoughts had persisted in people’s minds. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is set in Maycomb County, Alabama during the timeframe of the 1930s. Citizens of Maycomb County abide by a set of segregation laws and practices. Maycomb County is a typical homogenized and strictly divided region in southern US. The death of Tom Robinson provoked more racist stereotypes concerning the morals and ethics of African Americans. As Scout thought in her head, â€Å"To Maycomb, Toms death was typical. Typical of a nigger to cut and run. Typical of a niggers mentality to have no plan, no thought for the future, just run blind first chance he saw. Funny thing, Atticus Finch mightve got him off scot free, but wait-? Hell no. You know how they are. Easy come, easy go.
